Glorious Twelfth in Bobcaygeon
On Saturday July 5th, 2014, the Glorious Twelfth was celebrated again in the village of Bobcaygeon, when the members of the District of West Durham, in Ontario East called their members and supporters to gather at this picturesque village in the Kawartha Lakes region.
Lodges from across Ontario East traveled from far and wide to meet their brethren from Ontario West. Members from the County of Toronto, Brampton and Hamilton joined together on the streets of Bobcaygeon on this sunny and warm afternoon with a display of colour and music that filled our members and friends with excitement as they followed William III on horseback around the town and back to the arena for a band demonstration and bbq.
Those attending had a wonderful time and reminded the people in the local area that the freedoms most people take for granted today were won and guaranteed by William III at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 and are a treasured part of our lives today.
Our thanks go out to the organising committee for a wonderful Orange Day.
